To finish the pamphlet menu I needed a tree background to look as if they were pinned to it. I tried photographing and drawing a few, but the 500x3000 pixel shape of the pamphlet movie clip is a difficult shape to create. To avoid using a repeating pattern which would become blocky and require a lot of the computers resources to move, I decided to make a more inventive BLUR.I got the idea when working out the drag and drop code, when I stumbled across a template for $800 which blurred the background image while you used the dragger. I therefore thought... screw them, I will make my own and better one – and I kinda think I have /snoot.
I made an 800x600pxl wood grain cartoon on a parchment background and then blurred it carefully twice in Photoshop. I then set up a couple of simple bits of code in the long lines for the dragger and its easing to tween between these blurred images whilst dragging. The result I think works pretty well, giving a sense of speed and movement to a static image. It also looks a bit cartoony, which is exactly what I want with the style I am cultivating.
