18.05.10: Documentary

I’ve been working on the design document and got it just about finished. The mixture of text, pictures and tables should give a good rounded view of my vision of the whole game and how it might feel to play. I have also designed a cover to sum up the whole project and make the document more interesting. The image is a combination of many aspects of the game and from looking at other game cases; most tend to include characters on the front with the title in its unique text very prominent. I trawled through my folders for the original character scans and neatened up the two leading characters in the game, Cromwell and Charles I. I then added soldiers fighting along the bottom and a hand-drawn map of the British Isles I’d done early in the project, with a photo I took of the Shropshire hills faded over it. I then added the title which, as with games in general is also a kind of logo and created a messy, smoky border to it all. This border took an inordinate amount of time to get to work properly; so that it would fit within the parameters of the printer.
